FoNIBIB convenes NIBIB grantees to serve as scientific experts, presenting to Members of Congress and their staffers about the important contributions of medical and biological engineers to healthcare innovation and the essential role of NIBIB funding in supporting this work.

FoNIBIB is a coalition of organizations led by the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) dedicated to supporting the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB). Founded in 2000 through coordinated efforts by AIMBE and The Academy for Radiology & Biomedical Imaging, NIBIB is one of 27 Institutes and Centers that make up the National Institutes of Health (NIH). NIBIB’s mission is to transform, through technology development, our understanding of disease and its prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment.
